March 2011
Dear Members of the SPCC Community,
This year is definitely another exciting year. It marks the 95th Anniversary of SPCC and we celebrate it under the theme, “A Caring Family in the Christian Spirit of Faith, Hope and Love”.
Whilst we are celebrating the anniversary, you probably would like to know that the superstructure of the new extension block of the MacDonnell Road campus is completed and now undergoing the process of fixtures and fittings and this new building will be in operation this September. This 13-storey new building houses a dormitory and more spacious classrooms with enhanced facilities, providing students with a more natural and comfortable learning environment. Other facilities include a lecture theatre, laboratories and an indoor basketball court which will be equipped with a climbing wall and can conduct training and practice for basketball, badminton, volleyball, handball and tennis. Once the designated school facilities are relocated to this new building, alteration and refurbishment works of the existing campus including the Red Brick building will be carried out in different stages. Please take a look at some of the conceptual design sketches of this redevelopment project.
With the belief that each of the students is a star in the making, SPCC seeks to provide the best opportunities for the formation of values and attitudes, development of skills and competencies through the diverse learning opportunities and programmes. Since the founding of the School Choir in 1949 and the School Orchestra in 1950, music has always been at the forefront of the school experience at SPCC and undoubtedly has become a collective memory for many generations of St. Paulians. In preserving the trust of our musical heritage, and with a vision of becoming a best-practice school in music education on the international arena, SPCC is committed to developing and realising visionary initiatives: participation in international festivals, competitions, artistic exchanges and musical collaborations, international touring and a “Composers-in-Residence” scheme. To help us realise our vision, and to ensure sustainable growth and diversification of our music programmes, the Music Endowment Fund was established within SPCC Charitable Trust to support SPCC on these bold musical ambitions.
Since the establishment of The Council of St. Paul’s Co-educational College Charitable Trust (the “Trust”) in January 1999, the Trust made annual grants to SPCC to support a variety of programmes and to provide financial assistance to needy students. We hope that you will continue to support SPCC by making a gift to “Giving to St. Paul’s Co-ed – Annual Support Campaign”, to help SPCC achieve its vision. Please contact the Development Office for more details on the Music Endowment Fund or naming rights for dedicated areas at the Secondary School campus.
With gratitude and warm regards,
Bernard Auyang Teresa Yang
