Guangdong Experimental Middle School, Guangzhou, China

Founded in 1952, Guangdong Experimental Middle School Choir is regarded as one of the best choirs in China. As the representative of Guangdong Province, the choir has won numerous awards in national competitions. Its feat also includes ten successive championships in the interscholastic chorus competitions in Guangzhou.

In 1997, the choir swept the gold medal in the 8th National Music Festival in Sydney, Australia. In 2000, it entered the 1st Choir Olympics (Austria) and took first prizes in Youth Choirs and Folk Song (without obbligato). Then in Choir Olympics 2004, the choir won three Gold Diplomas in Youth Choirs, Fold Song (without obbligato) and Opus of Modern Times. It was also named overall champion in Opus of Modern Times.

Heep Yunn School, Hong Kong, China

It has been a long tradition to emphasise choral singing in HeepYunnSchool. The Heep Yunn School Choir participated in the Hong Kong International Youth and Children’s Choir Festival in 2006 and received a Gold Award. The Choir also stayed in the first three positions in the Hong Kong Schools Music Festival for over ten years. In 2007, the Senior Choir won the Singing in Chinese class with 96 marks and was chosen as the “Best Girls’ Choir of The Year”.

Holy Innocents' High School, Singapore

The Holy Innocents’ High School Choir, formed in 1994, has a current strength of about 100 members. Winner of the Gold Award in the Singapore Youth Festival Central Judging in 2005 and 2007, the choir has showcased performances in past National Day Parades, and National Day Celebrations at the School and Constituency level. Over the years under the instruction of choral conductor Ms Flora Yee, the choir has also performed at various public performances during the festive period of Christmas in Sentosa, the Singapore Zoological Gardens and at various shopping malls. The choir also performs regularly in the school’s annual thanksgiving concert Sing Out and its biennial school concerts.

Nankai High School, Tianjin, China

The choir of NanKai High School is one of the most established and influential school choirs in Tianjin. The celebrated choir has received top prizes and awards in inter-school choral and music competitions in Tianjin. It has also been invited to perform at a number of important occasions. With more than 100 young choristers, the choir showcases the unique spirit and characteristics of NanKai students.

Shibei Middle School, Shanghai, China

Founded some 90 years ago, ShiBei Middle School is a well-established school in Shanghai. Its school choir was formed in 1992 and was named Students Art Choir attached to Shanghai Educational Committee in 2001. Over the past 15 years, the choir has received numerous accolades in various competitions in Shanghai, and won the top prize in the national choral competitions in 2004 and 2007. In 2002, the ShiBei Middle School Choir was invited to perform in the Golden Hall in Vienna, Austria.In the Choir Olympics 2004 (Germany), the choir was awarded a Silver Diploma in the category of Mixed Youth Choirs.

St. Andrew's Cathedral School, Sydney, Australia

Music has been integral in the history and character of St Andrew’s Cathedral School, Sydney since its founding in 1885. Choral expression and liturgical music associated with boys’ education in cathedral settings dates back to the 6th century in England.

The school’s chorister tradition forms the foundation for St Andrew’s world-class music programme. The school is justifiably proud of its continuing affiliation with the Choir Schools Association in the UK, the only school in Australia to be accorded this distinction.

s the school’s music and performing standards are being constantly improved and broadened, students can choose from a wide range of vocal studies including the Cathedral Choristers, Girls’ Vocal Ensemble, Boys’ Vocal Ensemble, Barbershop Quartets and the Senior Choir.

St. Paul's Co-educational College, Hong Kong, China

St. Paul’s Co-educational College has long cherished a fine choral tradition. The Mixed-Voice Choir was founded in 1949 and participated for the first time in the Hong Kong Schools Music Festival in 1950; excellent results have been achieved ever since. Various boys’, girls’ and junior mixed choirs were formed in the ensuing years with the aim of improving the singers’ technical skills and enlarging their repertoire.

The Treble Choir was founded in 1980 to provide a developmental link between the primary school choirs and the senior choirs. In 2002, the senior choirs were amalgamated to become a 150-voice Concert Choir from which 80 members are selected to form the Senior Mixed-Voice Choir.

Through the years, these choirs have been highly acclaimed for their outstanding achievements in local and overseas music festivals and on special occasions, including a performance before the Thai royal family in 1979.They appear regularly in internal and public concerts, such as, performances of major choral works with the Hong Kong Sinfonietta in 2000 and 2003, Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana with the Chung Chi College Choir in 2004, and the Hong Kong International Youth and Children’s Choir Festival and the Europa Cantat XVI in Mainz, Germany, in 2006.
